The 100-Day Women Marathon Training Program was a fully funded GABA initiative launched in 2024 to empower women through physical fitness, wellness education, and community support.
The free program brought together 100 women for 100 days of structured workouts, running training, mental health seminars, and nutrition workshops, preparing them to participate in the Kigali International Peace Marathon.
Beyond race preparation, the initiative encouraged healthier lifestyles, increased awareness of non-communicable diseases, and promoted physical and mental well-being among participants.
The program aimed to make fitness and wellness education more accessible to women while building the confidence, knowledge, and physical endurance needed to participate in a major sporting event.
Structured Fitness & Running Training: A 100-day training journey designed to prepare participants for the 10 km and Half Marathon distances.
Mental Health Awareness: Educational seminars promoting emotional well-being and the importance of mental health.
Nutrition & Healthy Living: Practical workshops on nutrition, healthier habits, and sustainable lifestyle choices.
Non-Communicable Disease Prevention: Awareness and education on reducing the risk of lifestyle-related diseases.
Community & Empowerment: Creating a supportive environment where women could train together, encourage one another, and pursue shared wellness goals.
The 100-Day Women Marathon Training Program demonstrated the power of accessible fitness and wellness education in supporting women's health and empowerment.
100 women participated in the free 100-day training program, receiving structured fitness guidance and wellness education.
73 participants successfully crossed the finish line at the Kigali International Peace Marathon, completing either the 10 km or Half Marathon distance.
Beyond the race, participants gained valuable knowledge about nutrition, mental health, and the prevention of non-communicable diseases, supporting their ability to make informed decisions about their long-term health.
Through this initiative, GABA demonstrated its commitment to women's wellness, inclusive participation in sports, and healthier communities.
